Kaboom Percussion Incursion
On Monday 24th July, we were treated to a concert by Kaboom Percussion. The students loved learning about instruments that you could make from recyclables, and even how you can use your body as an instrument. Thank you to Mrs Ruscoe who organised this incursion for us. We loved it!
Assembly Superstars
Our first assembly for Term 3 showcased the amazing acting talents of our Year 1 students in Room 18. Not only did they deliver an important message about helping, sharing and using your manners, they spoke and read beautifully on the microphone. Well done to Mrs Spiers and her marvellous Year 1 students.
Well done also to our merit certificate winners and recipients of Student of the Month. Our value that we are concentrating on now is Responsibility. Weeks 1 and 2 of this term we have focused on, ‘We are organised with our equipment.’ Next week, we commence looking at the behaviour expectation of, ‘ We move back to class quickly after break times.’
Check out our Assembly Superstars!
PEAC Testing Year 4 Students
The PEAC Program provides part time extension and enrichment for exceptionally able students in Years 5 and 6. PEAC offers a range of courses that provide identified students with work that is intellectually challenging.
All students in Year 4 will have the opportunity to be assessed for suitability for the PEAC Program. Testing at Duncraig Primary School will occur on Tuesday 1 August 2023.
If your child is unwell on the specified test day above, please contact Michelle Moyes, Deputy Principal, using the email address listed below, within 24 hours of the testing date, to request a catch-up test.
The scores from the test will be used to select eligible students for PEAC courses and extension programs during 2024 to 2025 and also to inform educational provision in schools. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers of eligible students will be notified via email in Term 4.
If you do not wish your child to be included in the PEAC assessment, please notify the school in writing by Thursday 27 July 2023, email: Michelle.Moyes@education.wa.edu.au
Staffing Update
I would like to share with you some staffing news. As of the beginning of Term 3 Leah Clegg is the substantive Principal at Padbury Primary School. Unfortunately, she will not be returning to her position of Deputy Principal at Duncraig PS. This is wonderful news for Leah, and I am very happy for her, and pleased that she will be remaining in our network of schools. The staff will be farewelling Leah in person next Friday. In the meantime, we are fortunate to retain the expertise of Ms Tash Burke as Deputy Principal.
Free Incursions – Term 3
This term we have a free Constable Care incursion planned on Tuesday 5th September for all PP- Year 6 students.
The PP – Year 3 performance is titled, ‘Fun Scary’. Fun Scary explores the difference between safe/unsafe scary feelings, as well as learning about warning signs, identifying feelings to increase emotional literacy, and identifying students’ own safe network of trusted adults. This performance will build on to the learning of Protective Behaviours that is covered at school each year.
The Year 4 – 6 performance is, ‘Screen Name’. Screen Name teaches young people about the more serious dangers of the cyber world, how to make safe decisions online, and how the online world can impact in-person relationships and safety.
We are also very fortunate to receive a free incursion, compliments of Hawaiian Shopping Centres. The school was successful in applying for the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre production of Blueback by Tim Winton. This incursion will be for Years 4-6 students. The date for this is not confirmed yet, however, both incursions are FREE of charge for our students.
