Dear parents, caregivers and community,
Welcome back everyone to an exciting Term 3. We have enjoyed the start to the term as we began with a productive School Development Day where the staff focused on whole school practices linked to our Schools Business Plan. This term is looking busy once again with whole school and interschool carnivals, Science week, Book week and One Big Voice. Please find our term planner here for your reference.
The oval continues to be in the growth phase of the restoration process, with students off this space until later in the term. Thank you to all parents for promptly returning permission to access Marri Rd oval for the interim. The final phase of the ceiling replacement will occur during the next school holidays to minimize disruption. Ceilings have been battened in the early years block for structural support.
Physical Education Teacher
We welcome Chris Lenferna to the Physical Education role whilst Ted Orzel is on leave for most of the term. Chris is enjoying getting to know the students and the Duncraig community.
Cross Country
Last Friday the students displayed outstanding perseverance during the Cross Country event held at Marri Rd oval. We managed to manoeuvre our way through the weather with students putting in their best effort to push through and finish their race.
Results from our Faction Cross Country Carnival will be used to determine selection for the Interschool Cross Country held on Tuesday, 10 August at Davallia PS. Parents will be notified shortly.
Parent teacher interviews
I’m sure you have booked your parent teacher interview for Wednesday 4 August. On this day the school will finish for students at 12.50pm. Parents are encouraged to collect their children at this time, however your child will be supervised after 12.50pm if you are unable to collect them. Teachers will be available for interviews between 1.20-6.00pm.
National School Opinion Parent Survey- Have your say!
The National Schools Opinion Survey (NSOS) has been shared with you to provide valuable feedback to assist in school improvement. Schools are required to distribute this survey every two years to parents, staff and students (Year 5 and 6). I am seeking your assistance to please complete a short survey that is designed to provide our school with data useful for fostering a positive learning and working environment that promotes academic success among all students. This survey helps the school to reflect on its practices and determine whether programs are effective at improving our school climate, and whether they continue to be relevant. It helps detail to us what the community thinks we are getting right, and what needs further enhancement. This data will to be analysed, shared with staff, our School Board and the community.
The survey is open now and will close on Wednesday 11 August at 3.00pm. Your valuable feedback is appreciated and will be used to guide future discussions in making this school a great one, now and for the future.
