Principal’s Update – Term 1 week 6 2022

Welcome back, Year 6s!

Last week we experienced our first COVID close contact shut down. Due to a student testing positive on Friday and showing symptoms on Thursday, our Year 6 classes were sent home to isolate. The Health Dept. advised us that the infectious period commences two days prior to symptoms being present, so as that was prior to the mask-wearing rule, this affected the students and staff in Rooms 1 and 2.

Since their return, we have had some protocol changes as advised by the Depts. Health and Education. The best place for up to date information is here: Very high caseload settings introduced for Western Australia (www.wa.gov.au) It can be very confusing working through all the information out there, so please email us if you are unsure about isolation requirements for your child.

Looking for the Admin Block?

If you’ve made a visit to the Admin block since Wednesday, you would’ve noticed that we are not there. The re-roofing project on the Admin block commences this Friday 11 March, so we have set up digs in the Conference Room and resource area of the middle block. If you can’t find us, please phone 6224 2150 and we’ll direct you. We expect to be located here for 3-4 weeks.

Clean Up Australia School Event

Last Friday 4th March, our students helped Keep Australia Beautiful by cleaning up our school. The students collected 12kg of rubbish and 60% of it was plastic items! Well done to all students for looking after our school. Hopefully, this will create a starting point for us and it will be even easier now to keep our school clean!

Charlie the Superstar!

Over the past few months, Charlie in Year 5 has been working hard to raise money for The World’s Greatest Shave and on the weekend, he had the big shave. He raised a whopping $2075.00 dollars! The World’s Greatest Shave raises money for Leukaemia (blood cancer), which provides assistance to people fighting leukaemia, and funds research into finding a cure. This is an amazing fundraising effort by Charlie – we are all proud of him!

Year 4-6 Faction Swimming Carnival

Students in Years 4-6 will be participating in the Faction Swimming Carnival this Friday 11th March. Thank you to parents who have volunteered to help. Mr O is very appreciative of your assistance! It is going to be a very hot day so hat, sunscreen and plenty of water is a must. We will be taking extra sunscreen and will be reminding the students to re-apply during the day.
