At Duncraig Primary School, our co?curriculum program provides students with rich opportunities to extend their interests, develop skills and build confidence beyond the classroom. These experiences support student engagement, wellbeing and a strong sense of connection to school.
Choir
Choir is a valued and highly visible part of the Duncraig Primary School co?curriculum, building on the strong Music program offered within The Arts.
Students in Year 4 Choir and Senior Choir participate in weekly rehearsals, where they develop their singing skills, musicality and performance confidence. All students involved work collaboratively to prepare for performances, fostering teamwork and a sense of shared achievement.
Choir members perform regularly at key school events, including:
- School assemblies
- ANZAC Assembly
- End of Year Awards Assembly
- Graduation Ceremony
Students may also participate in external performance opportunities such as:
- One Big Voice, a massed choir event bringing together thousands of students
- WAGSMS Concerts, celebrating music education across WA public schools
A choir uniform is provided for special performances, promoting a strong sense of belonging and pride. Through these experiences, students develop resilience and confidence, learning to manage nerves and perform in front of an audience.
Through Choir, students are supported to:
- Build confidence in performance
- Develop commitment and teamwork
- Experience the joy of collective music?making
- Represent their school with pride
Sport
Sport is an active and highly engaging part of student life at Duncraig Primary School, promoting physical health, teamwork and school spirit.
Students are highly active during break times, with a wide range of informal sports played throughout the year, including:
- Cricket
- Handball
- Dodgeball
These activities support the development of social skills, teamwork and a love of being active.
In addition to informal play, students participate in structured co?curricular sporting opportunities. During Term 2, senior students take part in team sports competitions, with Mr O providing regular morning training sessions throughout the week. These sessions help students to refine skills, build teamwork and become a well?coordinated and competitive team.
Students demonstrate strong commitment to these trainings, recognising that preparation and teamwork are key to success. Most Year 6 students participate, with Year 5 students often selected to support team numbers and gain valuable experience.
Through sport, students develop:
- Teamwork and cooperation
- Commitment and discipline
- Leadership and resilience
- Pride in representing their school
Digital Literacy
At Duncraig Primary School, students are supported to create, manage, communicate and investigate data, information and ideas, and solve problems in a digital environment.
All students from Pre?Primary through to Year 6 are provided with access to school devices, ensuring equitable opportunities to develop digital skills and engage with learning technologies.
Our program aligns with the Western Australian Curriculum: Digital Literacy which can be accessed here:
https://k10outline.scsa.wa.edu.au/home/wa-curriculum/general-capabilities
Through this curriculum, students learn to critically identify and appropriately select and use digital devices or systems and learn to make the most of the technologies available to them. Students adapt to new ways of doing things as technologies evolve, and protect the safety of themselves and others in digital environments.
Online Safety and Digital Citizenship
A key priority at Duncraig Primary School is ensuring students learn to be safe, responsible and respectful digital citizens.
We actively utilise resources from the eSafety Commissioner, Australia’s national online safety regulator, which provides guidance, education and tools to support safe online behaviour.

Students are explicitly taught to:
- Navigate online environments safely
- Protect their personal information and privacy
- Recognise and respond to cyberbullying or unsafe situations
- Interact respectfully in digital spaces
- Use technology ethically and responsibly
These skills are reinforced across learning areas and form an essential part of student wellbeing and digital literacy.

Significant investment in school?owned devices and network infrastructure ensures:
- Safe and monitored access to the internet
- Consistent and equitable learning experiences
- Opportunities for students to develop digital literacy skills
- A secure environment for teaching and learning
This strategic approach supports students to confidently and safely engage with technology as part of their everyday learning.
Library
The school library is a welcoming and engaging space that supports students’ love of reading, research and inquiry.
Our Librarian, Mrs Linda Key, plays an important role in fostering a positive reading culture across the school. She works closely with students to:
- Assist in selecting appropriate and engaging books suited to their interests and reading levels
- Read to students regularly, modelling fluency and enjoyment of literature
- Support classroom learning, making links between texts and current topics of study
Through these practices, students are encouraged to develop a lifelong love of reading and build strong literacy skills.
A highlight of the library program is the annual Scholastic Book Fair, which provides students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of new and exciting books while promoting reading within the school community.
The library program supports students to:
- Develop a love of reading
