Principal’s Update – Week 8 Term 2, 2023

Thank you to those parents who were able to meet with teachers last Thursday. I hope you found the meetings informative. Unfortunately, our specialist teachers were not available for interviews on this occasion, as they assisted in looking after students who could not be collected from school early. If you would like to meet with any of our specialist teachers, please contact them directly to arrange a meeting time.

Talented Artists

Room 6 has been studying art through the ages and recently were set a homework task.  The task was to recreate a famous artwork using any medium, but no drawing or painting was allowed. The effort they put in was outstanding! What a creative bunch of students (and parents) we have! Here are a few examples to enjoy. If you like what you see, check it out as a full and extended version during Term 3 on the office bulletin board.

Assembly Superstars!

Room 8 hosted our last assembly in Week 7. They did a fabulous job with their First Nation People’s inspired presentation, singing in Noongar language and teaching us some words. Well done, Room 8!

Well done, also, to those students who received a merit certificate.

Ms Nic Denny also came and presented some prizes from the Colour Run. Congratulations to Arlo, who was our highest fundraiser, and won an electric scooter for his efforts!

Our next assembly is in Week 9, 22nd June, hosted by Room 12.

On Monday 26th June, we will hold a special NAIDOC Assembly to open our NAIDOC Week at Duncraig Primary School.

Student Numbers, 2024

We are already planning for 2024. To get an accurate idea of student numbers, we request that parents let the office know if they are planning on enrolling their children at another school. Please call the office on 6224 2150 and inform us of your intentions if you know that your children will not be attending Duncraig Primary School in 2024.

School Uniforms

With our new school logo poised for implementation, there is now scope to consider uniform colours -particularly the colour of our school polo. Parent feedback has indicated that a darker colour may be a preferred option. This is a decision that requires community consultation, student voice and School Board endorsement.

If you are interested in being part of a School Uniform committee, please email me to express your interest. It would be great to have a group of enthusiastic, interested parents to discuss this and generate some ideas, collect parent feedback from classroom Facebook pages, talk to students and meet with our uniform supplier. Please let me know if you are interested in being involved: Nicole.Borbas@education.wa.edu.au
