Principal’s Update – week 6 term 4 2023

Assembly Super Stars

On Thursday 16th November Room 6 hosted our Assembly. What a wonderful assembly we were treated to today! The Year 4’s wrote and organised the whole assembly. It was an entertaining and informative Christmas journey around the world, we learned about all of the interesting ways Christmas is celebrated around the world and then they wowed us with their rendition of an Aussie Jingle Bells. Congratulations, Room 6!

We recognised our Merit Certificate recipients who are wowing us by being their best and making positive choices at Duncraig Primary School.

Year 6 Transition to High School

Each year Duncraig Senior High School invites our Year 6 students to join in some exciting STEAM learning (Science, Technologies, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) as a way of familiarising themselves with the high school environment. The students walk down for three separate sessions and this year there were four learning opportunities for students:

  • STEAM Coding Group.
  • STEAM Science Group.
  • STEAM Maths/Problem solving Group.

STEAM Arts (Dance/Drama/Visual Art) Group.

Band notes

Our Band students have been representing our school with skill and pride. On Tuesday 14 Nov, they made the positive choice to get up bright and early (7.20am!) to attend a rehearsal at Duncraig SHS, in preparation for the Christmas event at Glengarry PS, which will be on Nov 30.

There will be no Band after school on Nov 30 due to this performance. The final Band rehearsal for the year will be on Thursday Nov 23.

Thanks to our dedicated Band students for all of their work this year. – Mrs Ruscoe

Welcome back Mrs Borbas

During Weeks 5 and 6, Mrs Borbas was taking some of her Long Service Leave. We know she will have done her personal best to relax and enjoy this time off.

PBS Focus

During weeks 6 & 7, our behaviour expectation that we are focussing on is, “We make positive choices”.

‘Positive Choices’ could be:

  • Helping out in and around our school community.
  • Being our best, both in the classroom, playground and in the community.
  • Choosing what we think is the best option, this could be putting our rubbish in the bin, speaking kindly to each other, or even choosing the healthy food option.

Students will be involved in contributing to our community this term when we kick off the Food Bank Christmas Appeal.
