Principal’s Update – Term 1 Week 10

Term 1 – It’s a Wrap!

It has been a fast, furious, and sometimes, frustrating term. I am pleased to have survived it! It has been such a wonderful experience getting to know the students and the school community. I feel very grateful to be working with an amazing team of teachers, admin, education assistants and support staff. Next term, we welcome back Ms Leah Clegg into the Deputy Principal role, and we farewell Mrs Fabiana Walters from Room 10. Mrs Cole returns to Room 11 and Mrs Adams becomes the permanent class teacher in Room 10. Mrs Finnie remains with the Room 3 class and we welcome Mrs Felicity Wensinger as a tandem teacher, working with Rooms 5 and 6.

Assemblies Term 2

As you may be aware, public health and social measures have been eased for schools for Term 2, details at wa.gov.au. Wecontinue to follow the current health advice and I can let you know what the changes mean for our school.

We are pleased to advise that parents/carers are allowed on school sites in Term 2 for the following purposes:

  • to attend year group assemblies
  • to attend face to face parent/teacher meetings
  • to attend indoor and outdoor sporting events, infrequent special events, performances and other interschool events with masks and physical distancing
  • to attend face to face meeting e.g. P&C and school board/council meetings
  • to volunteer in roles outside of the classroom, including the canteen and uniform shop
  • drop-off/pick up outside of classrooms

Parents/carers attending school sites must wear masks on school grounds and adhere to physical distancing, where possible. Please note parents/carers are not allowed inside classrooms.

A number of school activities can resume, including infrequent special events, and we will provide more detail on these in Term 2.

Hero Hunter Day – Friday 1 April

Last Friday was the day we all needed – some joy and laughter as we admired each other’s costumes and recognised our heroes. Some heroes were real, and some were fictional. Check out the photos from our Hero Hunter Day. As a school, we raised over $600 for Childhood Cancer Support Groups.

Today I was very pleased to present the first “Million Word” badges for 2022. Congratulations to Krishiv and Scarlett, both in Year 5, for their amazing appetites for reading. The Million Word recognition is part of our Literacy Pro program in which students in Years 3-6 participate. This program is also supported by our P&C who fund the annual subscription.

Happy Holidays

We wish our students an enjoyable holiday break and we are looking forward to seeing them back for Term 2 on Tuesday 26thApril. To families who celebrate, have a beautiful Easter.

I am hoping that these holidays will be a bit of a circuit breaker for COVID and head lice (which is also making an appearance in our school, at the moment!) Please take care, stay healthy, check hair and wash hats over the holidays.
