Principals Update Week 8 Term 1

Teachers and parent volunteers at Duncraig do an amazing job. As I have wandered around the school over the last couple of weeks I have seen this in action. The photo below shows Mrs Wass teaching History to the Year One students. They are learning about the past and how things have changed over time. She can be seen below dressed as a teacher might have done over a hundred years ago.

Thanks to one of our wonderful parents Diann, the Kindergarten students from Mrs Rossi’s class have helped establish a vegetable garden worm farm for all the Kindergarten students to enjoy.

Congratulations to our merit certificate winners.

School Board Members

The school is seeking two parent/community members who can lend their skills and expertise to the Duncraig Primary School Board.  Being a member of a school board is an important and rewarding role that contributes to the success of our school. Currently there are two vacancies, one a two-year term and the other a three-year term. If you would like to nominate for a position on the school board, please contact me either by phone or email by Friday April 23. (lyn.dawson@education.wa.edu.au)

2021 ANZAC Day Ceremony

We will be holding our ANZAC Day Ceremony on Thursday 22 April at 9amin the new undercover area.  Students are encouraged to bring a flower or posy of flowers to lay near the flag as part of the ceremony. Parents are most welcome to attend, however please remember to social distance as per the current Covid rules.

Duncraig School Community

Thank you to our wonderful school community who contributed to a gift and signed a card for our wonderful traffic warden Graham, who has had to take some time off from helping our students cross Marri Road. Thank you to Mrs Rudolph for organising this! As you can see he was very grateful.

Swimming Carnival

On Tuesday 16 March, the students from Year 4-6 participated in the Faction Swimming Carnival. Thanks must go to Mr Orzel for once again organising the carnival and all the staff who assisted on the day.  The students had a fabulous day.

Many thanks also to the parents who attended on the day to cheer on their children.

Many thanks also to parents and staff who volunteered their time on the day. Your assistance is always much appreciated.

Congratulations to GREEN faction were the winning faction on the day! Faction Captains

Congratulations also to our champion boys and girls!

Year 5 and 6 Swimming

This week our Year 5 and 6 students are attending swimming lessons at Mullaloo Beach. Parents please be aware that the levels/stages in lessons conducted at the beach have different indicators than those lessons taken at the pool that determine whether students have passed a stage. So if your child passed Level 9 at the pool last year does not necessarily mean they will be put into Stage 10 at the beach. The swimming teachers take the first day to determine whether any students need to move into another stage.
