Week 8 already!
This term has gone lightning fast! It has been very busy with training for athletics carnivals, swimming lessons, excursions, Book Week, Science Week, and cross-country events. Squeezed into that, teachers have been trying to get through the curriculum. Of course, added into the mix is the usual illnesses of students and staff. This newsletter will be the last for the term as I will be taking leave in Week 10. As always, if you need to contact the leadership team, Ms Michelle Moyes and Ms Tash Burke will be available during this week to assist you.
Assembly Super Stars
Well done to the Year 4 and 5 students from Room 4 who presented their assembly today. They presented their knowledge about the Noongar Six Seasons with confidence, humour and fabulous acting skills! Their Noongar Six Seasons song was performed beautifully.
Congratulations, also, to our school band members who showcased their skills on brass, flute and guitar. They have been practising hard and it is certainly paying off.
Check out our merit certificate recipients from this week’s assembly. It was pleasing to note words like, ‘well-organised’, ‘personal best’, and ‘great sporting attitude’ amongst the citations.
Year 1 Excursion Landsdale Farm
On Monday, the Year 1 students had a fabulous day at Lansdale Farm. The guinea pigs were a huge hit and the students enjoyed exploring the farm and finding out about the machinery. Big thanks to our parent helpers who came along to help on the day, and to Mrs Firman, Mrs Calton and Mrs Spiers who planned the excursion.
Faction Athletics Carnival
Last Friday, 1st September, was our Faction Athletics Carnival. What a great day! It was wonderful to see so many parents and families supporting the students, and of course, our students demonstrated great sporting attitudes. Many thanks to the P&C parents who prepped the students in faction colours before the day and manned the cake stall.
Our faction captains did a wonderful job in leading their teams and supporting the younger students.
School Uniform Update
We had an excellent response to our school uniform survey. Thank you to everyone who responded – students, parents, and staff. Overwhelmingly, the navy with light blue contrast was the preferred option. The school is currently in talks with Nell Gray, our uniform supplier, regarding the roll out of these uniforms. As there is existing stock of the current uniform, our timeline may stretch out to 1-2 years. A phasing in period is appropriate in this instance, and we may have students who are wearing the new and old uniform during this time. This is perfectly acceptable. Nell Gray will be selling the existing uniform at a reduced cost next year before the new uniform will be available for purchase.
National School Opinion Survey
Parents are invited to complete the Parent Survey of the National School Opinion Survey. This survey is required to be completed every two years. It was last completed in 2021. You may choose to complete the survey once, keeping in mind one or all your children, or if you feel your responses may change if you are considering the contexts of each of your children, you may like to submit an additional survey. The survey is anonymous, and can be accessed here: https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/umQdWvVR
The 2023 Parents School Opinion Survey will close on Friday 22nd September 2023.
